ACA Youth Instructor Certification

Parents, youth leaders, educators! Learn the basics to run your own cycling skills clinic (or bike rodeo) for children & youth.
No previous cycling experience necessary.

Become certified to teach the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) Bicycle Skills 123 Clinic curriculum so you can organize and administer children’s cycling skills clinics.

The curriculum offers advice on organizing and executing a skills clinic and covers administrative stations such as helmet fitting and bike inspections as well as skills stations covering bicycle handling and rules of the road.  Handout materials include detailed course diagrams and recommended clinic layout.

Upon completion, Youth Instructors have access to general liability insurance through the LAB’s insurance program and can apply for rodeo kits and helmets through the Austin Cycling Association and Safe Kids Austin Coalition.

The certification course is approximately two hours in duration and does not require prior cycling experience. This curriculum and course is sponsored by the National Bike Dealers Association and conducted under the auspices of a NBDA member.
